Dr. Arman Sargolzaei's expertise is in applying linear and nonlinear control methods, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to the field of connected and autonomous vehicles. His mission is to enhance the quality of life for people, assuring security and privacy concerns through extensive collaboration with multi-disciplines. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Director of the Resilient Autonomous Networked Control Systems (RANCS) research group. He received his first Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University in 2015 and his second Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida in 2020.
He is the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award (2022) for his work on the systematic testing and verification of connected and autonomous vehicles. Dr. Sargolzaei has been recognized with the Faculty Research Excellence Award for two consecutive years and recently received the Outstanding Research Achievement Award from the University of South Florida. His scholarly record includes 8 patents, 1 edited book, 7 book chapters, 60 journal papers, 43 conference papers, and 24 invited talks. His core research focuses on bridging the gap between theoretical developments and real-world applications. He has secured more than $4 million in research funding from multiple federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM), and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
